What happens when over four decades of couture expertise intersects with a 5,000-year-old Indian healing tradition? Ayurganic is the answer. Conceptualised by Lecoanet Hemant, this line of wellness-infused clothing draws from the Ayurvedic practice of Ayur Vastra to create garments that go beyond aesthetics, they're designed to heal, balance, and restore.Ayurganic’s journey begins in Balarama Puram, Kerala, where master herbalists like K. Rajan, a tenth-generation Ayurvedic practitioner, create therapeutic dye baths from over 50 herbs, roots, barks, and oils. From Kasturi manjal to raktchandanam, each blend is carefully proportioned to maintain its healing potencyeven after repeated washes. The fabrics, primarily GOTS-certified organic cotton, are purified, dyed, sun-dried, and cured using Ayurvedic techniques in a process that takes nearly 15 days. Every step is seeped in intention: aloe vera replaces chemical gumming, herbal infusions are absorbed into the fibers, and the final fabrics are washed in the flowing waters of the Neyyar River, considered sacred in local lore.
These textiles are not just natural, they’re alive with purpose. Designed to balance the body’s three doshas—vata, pitta, and kapha, the garments are therapeutic in essence. They’ve been used in treatments for skin ailments, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and even insomnia. But beyond the science lies a deeper story: a belief that if toxins can enter the skin, so can healing.Once the fabric arrives at Lecoanet Hemant’s atelier in Gurugram, it’s crafted into gender-fluid silhouettes that seamlessly blend comfort and quiet luxury. Think kurta dresses with hoods, quilted sweatshirts, robes with slits and karate sashes, ruched tunics, eye masks, yoga matseach piece made with dosha-balancing intentions and eco-conscious details right down to the threads and buttons. The colour palette is naturally muted, dictated by the herb’sindigo blues, turmeric yellows, babool-and-sandalwood bricksevoking a rich, earthy calm. While the designers are globally recognized for their haute couture legacywith work housed in museums from London to Berlin, Ayurganic is a homecoming.
More than just loungewear, Ayurganic is a quiet movement. A practice of mindful dressing. A spiritual offering. It doesn't follow trends or seasons;it follows the rhythm of the earth.
