Loud, loving, and liberating

Loud, loving, and liberating

Pride isn't a party or something to be celebrated only once a year. Pride represents dignity, self-respect, and confidence in one's identity, especially in the face of a history of discrimination and shame.

But how did it begin?

In June 1969, the Stonewall Riots broke out in New York City after yet another police raid on a queer bar. Led by trans women of color like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, the resistance sparked a global movement for LGBTQIA+ rights. That spark became Pride—a celebration of visibility, love, resistance, and the freedom to simply be. Today, Pride is all around us - on streets, runways, Instagram grids, and sometimes in quiet moments of courage. Pride is Identity. It’s about joy and justice. Protest and glitter. Love and liberation.

And at Nete, we’re here for all of it. We believe sustainability means more than conscious fabrics; it means conscious values. It means standing for authenticity, fluidity, and communities that deserve not just space, but the spotlight. Our pride is rooted in inclusion. Always has been. Always will be.

THE PRIDE GLOSSARY. BECAUSE LANGUAGE IS POWER

Words shape the world. They can affirm, empower, and open minds. Here’s a quick, friendly guide to a few terms we think everyone should know:

  • LGBTQIA+: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (or Questioning), Intersex, Asexual, plus other identities.
  • Non-Binary: A gender identity that doesn’t fit into the traditional male/female categories.
  • Genderfluid: When someone’s gender identity shifts over time or context.
  • Cisgender: Someone whose gender identity matches the sex they were assigned at birth.
  • Ally: A person who supports and stands up for the rights of LGBTQIA+ people - actively and openly.

Remember: It’s okay not to know. Learning is an act of love.

Pride and Fashion: A Match Made in History

Fashion has always been queer.

From the fierce ballrooms of Harlem to the punk scenes of London, queer communities have used style to defy norms, claim space, and express identities that the world tried to silence. Clothes have never been just clothes. They’ve been armor, art, and protest. Sequins as shields. Crop tops as declarations. DIY denim jackets that say: “This is me. And I’m not going anywhere.” At Nete, we take PRIDE in equal rights for all. We celebrate fashion that’s expressive, ethical, and true to you. Whether you wear neutrals or neons, fluid silhouettes or bold prints, we feature a diverse range of young brands that make fashion feel like freedom.

BRIGHT, BOLD, FASHIONABLE: DRESSING OUT LOUD

This Pride Month, get dressed with feeling.

Here are a few of our favourite ways to wear your truth, gently:

  • Bold prints like blooming florals and joyful graphics, because queerness isn’t restrictive, it’s freedom.

  • Gender-neutral fits that flow, stretch, and move with you.

    unisex jackets
  • Co-ord sets that turn sidewalks into runways.

    gender neutral coord sets
  • Organic cottons and soft linens that are kind to your skin and the earth.

  • Statement accessories - chunky earrings, handwoven scarves, and bags that speak volumes.

    Unisex Statement accessories

Our tip? Mix it up. Play with shapes. Ignore the rules. Your style doesn’t have to make sense to anyone but you. Because dressing out loud isn’t about being loud. It’s about being true.

UNAPOLOGETIC, BOLD, ALWAYS BECOMING

Pride is joy, but it’s also justice. For many, it’s still risky to live out loud. So this month, let’s hold space for both the glitter and the grit. To be queer is to keep becoming. To step into yourself over and over, despite the noise. And fashion can help us do that. That scarf your friend gave you when you came out? That shirt you wore on your first date, holding hands in public? Clothes carry memory. Emotion. Courage. So wear what reminds you of who you are. Who you love. What you’ve survived. And what you dream of.

FOR THE ALLIES: BE KIND, BE LOUD, SHOW UP

Hey allies. This part’s for you.

Being an ally isn’t about rainbows once a year. It’s about how you show up. Always. It means listening. Learning. Speaking up in rooms where queer voices aren’t heard. Supporting queer creators, friends, colleagues, and children - loudly, kindly, consistently.

Yes, it can feel uncomfortable. Yes, you may get it wrong. But don’t let that stop you. Progress >> Perfections. Wear your values. Ask the questions. Share your platform. And remember: Pride is a movement, not a moment.

WEAR YOUR PRIDE, EVERY DAY

At Nete, we believe what you wear can reflect who you are. And who you are is always enough. Whether you’re queer, questioning, an ally, or just exploring, let your clothes be soft armor, loud joy, and quiet confidence. Let them tell the story you’ve been dying to say out loud. Let them feel like home. This month and always, we’re here for fluidity. For self-expression. For rethinking norms and rewriting futures.

Because the world is better when we show up as we are - tender, colourful, evolving, and proud.

With all our love,
Yours, with Pride.
Team Nete🌈
