ILAMRA
Started by sisters Yashila and Trishala; Ilamra is an extension of all that inspires them. Their designs stem from India’s culture that keeps them rooted and reminds them of the diversity in beauty and beauty in diversity.
Ilamra aims to reinvent the craft of Kalamkari; to revive fading traditional crafts. They have partnered with 50 artisans of third-generation dyers and printers from the rural communities of Pedana, Andhra Pradesh. They believe the imperfections in print, positioning and colour are as idiosyncratic as the imperfections each one of us possess. Ilamra sources its organic cotton from fields which use sustainable agricultural methods like drip irrigation, rain-water harvesting pits and the use of bio-fertilisers for plant growth.
All their products are printed using vegetable dyes. Ilamra’s production is done within a 350 km radius and manufacturing is done in less than a 5 km radius to minimize their carbon footprint as much as they can.
Ilamra is based out of Hyderabad.
